Web Developer

We are looking for an experienced web developer to work on an exciting new web-based sales platform. You are an ambitious and creative person ready to take on intellectually challenging problems. You are a perfectionist coder who can’t stand mediocre work. You have a genuine burning interest in web-based technologies and love exploring new technologies. You are ready and capable to quickly take on more responsibilities as our user base grows.

The Position:

You will start by building components of our web application and improving the features of existing ones. You should be capable of taking a half-baked idea, write up a detailed plan outlining issues, improvements, and pitfalls, and then implement it. As you prove your skill, your responsibilities will shift to planning the features and architecture of new components/modules in our app. You may eventually get to hire additional developers and form a team.

Technical requirements:

  • At least 3 years of related work experience.
  • Programming: PHP (Yii); HTML/JavaScript (jQuery/jQueryUI); SQL; XML; YAML/JSON.
  • Unit testing
  • Prototyping with Mockflow
  • Version control: Git
  • Web development: Dynamic websites (AJAX/Comet), web services (REST, SOAP, etc).
  • Web application scalability (caching, load balancing, etc)
  • Linux and server administration (minor experience): security, backup, LAMP.
  • Databases: MySQL

Commitment:

For the first 1-2 months you will be employed on a part-time hourly basis. If you provide excellent high quality work, you will have the option to be hired full-time thereafter.

Language:

You must be an excellent communicator in written English and proficient in spoken English.Fluency in Russian or Swedish is a plus, but not a requirement.
